Trudi (Fenstemaker) Van Orman

Trudi was a 1964 graduate of Timken Vocational High School.  Her program of study was cosmetology.  Upon graduation, Trudi worked at several salons.  In 1981, she opened her own salon, Lock One Hair Design where she has been the owner/operator for 38 years.  Trudi enjoys her work and continues to work full time.

Trudi has been very active in the community throughout her life.  She has belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star for 52 years and has been a member of the Canton Players Guild for 35 years where she sat on the board for 12 years as chairwoman of the make-up department.  Trudi also sat on the board of the Stark County Chapter of the Cosmetology Association 10 years.  Presently, Trudi and her husband, Howard, serve meals at the Basilica of Saint John the Baptist on Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Finally, she has been very active for the last 40 years at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

Trudi has belonged to a number of organizations, including Buckeye Corvettes (50+ years), Kent State at Stark theatre, Louisville Players, Canton Entertainers, the Red Hat Society and The Granny Apples (Granny Apples are a group of women, 45 years old or older, who tap dance in competition and as entertainment).

Brain Bailey

Brian was a 1988 graduate of Timken Senior High School.  His program of study was college prep.  Upon graduation, Brian attended Cleveland State University where he received a B.A. degree in Computer Information Systems in 1992.  Upon graduation, Brian was employed with Graphic Enterprises of Ohio as a systems integrator and national sales manager.  Brian remained with Graphic Enterprises until 1999.  He next was employed by Heidelberg USA as a prepress sales manager until 2006.

In 2006, Brian co-founded and served as CEO of the Ichor Restaurant Group which includes Old Carolina Barbeque, Smoke the Burger Joint, Baja Pizzafish and Biscuit Uprising.  He remains in that position today.  In addition, in 2020 Brian founded Canton Lifestyle Magazine where he serves as the owner and publisher.

Brian has used his restaurants to give back to the community through countless donations to schools, churches, and non-profits.  Old Carolina Barbeque has supported Wishes Can Happen and is a proud partner of the Lebron James Family Foundation.  Brian also enjoys public speaking to K-12 students, college students, and professional and community organizations about marketing, entrepreneurship, leadership and cooking.

Brian’s restaurants are members of numerous Chambers of Commerce, as well as the Building Industry Association of Stark and East Central Ohio.  He has received several awards for his entrepreneurship, including Entrepreneur of the Year (2009) from the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce, Top Ten BBQ Chain in the USA (2014) from The Daily Meal/USA Today, and Masters Swimmer of the Year (2020) from the Greater Canton Aquatic Association.

Jeff Talbert

Jeff was a 1989 graduate of Timken Senior High School.  Jeff’s program of study was college prep.  Upon graduation, Jeff attended Muskingum University where he received a B.A. degree in 1993.  In the fall of 1994, he was hired by the Canton City Schools as a JOGS teacher.  Jeff received an M.A. degree in Education Leadership in 2003.  Upon the opening of the Freshman Academy, Jeff was hired as a Team Leader (Assistant Principal) and then became the Principal of McKinley High School from 2005-09.  He next became the Superintendent of the Osnaburg Local Schools in 2009 and Assistant Superintendent of the Cleveland Heights/University Heights Schools in 2010 where he remained until 2013.  At that time Jeff became the Superintendent of the Alliance City Schools where he remains today.

Jeff currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Alliance YMCA and the Trustee Board of the Stark County Family Council.  He also belongs to the Buckeye Association of School Administrators and the Ohio Education Policy Fellowship Program.

He also has received the Alliance Urban Icon Award from the Alliance Urban Pastors Association and the Legacy of Excellence Award from Jobs for America’s Graduates.

On Tuesday, June 16, 2020, Jeff was hired as the newest Canton City Schools’ Superintendent, a position which he will assume in August.
